No Experience Necessary

One of the biggest concerns prospective clothing franchisees have is whether or not they need retail experience to succeed in the apparel franchise industry. And the answer is, no — not if you franchise with Apricot Lane! Does it help if you’ve worked in the industry before? Of course it does. As with any profession, past experience is useful. But we know that many of our franchisees come to us with little to no retail experience, which can make them feel ill-suited or ill-prepared to own an apparel franchise, no matter how much they might love fashion. That’s why we’ve developed an extensive training program that covers all the bases. You’ll spend part of that training in the privacy of your own home, and on your time-table, studying our proprietary manuals that go over many aspects of running your retail business. You’ll be quizzed on material and be introduced to some of the software you’ll be using to manage your inventory. Throughout, your 40 hours of in-home training will be reinforced by written exercises that allow you to gain confidence in your abilities and prepare you for your new role as a fashion retailer.

Away from Home

Once your in-home training has been completed, you’ll get to take part in what many franchisees really look forward to — on-site immersion into the Apricot Lane brand. You’ll spend five classroom days in the lovely Sacramento Valley, where we’ll focus on the things you’ll need to know to run the day-to-day operations of your apparel franchise, including buying and managing inventory, marketing, and customer service, among other topics. Best of all, you’ll spend an exciting day in the Los Angeles Fashion District to get a big-picture introduction into the fashion industry and meet some of our key suppliers.

When your classroom work is done, you’ll spend three to five days on location, learning how to display your merchandise beautifully and how to train your staff, and you’ll familiarize yourself with our sales systems. Your days spent with us before you open your store are meant to prepare you for what you’ve been waiting for — your grand opening — and we’ll be there beyond that! We’ll spend the next four months after you open tracking your operations closely and checking in to make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s all part of our commitment to ensure you’ve got a strong foundation of good business habits that’ll set you up for success.
