Our Location Experts Will Help Put You on the Path to Success!

We’ve heard it before — when it comes to real estate it’s all about location, location, location! This catch-phrase applies not only to residential real estate, but commercial as well. If you’re interested in becoming part of the fashion industry, and you’re looking into how to open a clothing store, you’ll quickly realize that a key element to success is location — where you open your store. We know this, which is why we’re committed to helping every new franchisee find the perfect spot for their store. Today, our brand is made up of over 75 apricot lane boutique locations across the country, every one of them individually owned and operated, and each one serving their local communities every day. Let’s look at how we can do the same for you.

The Great Location is Out There!

When you think about how to open a clothing store, one of the first things that’ll come to mind is where: where should I set up shop? Some of our new franchisees feel comfortable scouting out potential locations on their own. Others want our help — and we’re happy to give it to them. We’ll utilize demographic research to help you find a location that’s surrounded by potential customers. Our team of experts are skilled at identifying the traits that make a location a good choice, and will help you narrow down your search to the right street in a neighborhood that caters to the right demographic. Once you’ve decided on a spot, we’ll help you negotiate a lease and will work to identify any available means of financial assistance that you may qualify for. In short, Apricot Lane’s strong network of support and resources is always on-hand to assist you every step of the way.

The Right Territory

Today we have many territories available from which our new franchisees may choose, and we do our very best to make sure your new store will be located in the right one. We’ll help you identify a territory that’s not oversaturated with fashion retailers in a similar niche, and that helps you reach the right demographic. Most cities are a good fit for our brand, but you’ll want to make sure you settle in a neighborhood that’s inviting and established. Malls and urban centers are good choices, as are areas that see higher foot traffic, like the your local downtown area.

Franchisee Training and Support Help Prepare You for Success!

We know that becoming part of an apparel franchise family is an exciting and rewarding process. But let’s be honest — it can also be scary at times. You love the idea of being your own boss and running a business, but you’re not sure you have the knowledge or skills to handle all the responsibilities, especially if you’ve never worked in retail before. But rest easy! When you invest in an Apricot Lane Boutique franchise, you don’t go it alone. We have over 25 years of experience helping each and every one of our franchisees build their careers as fashion retailers. We do that through unparalleled training and ongoing support. Let’s take a closer look at what that means and how it prepares you for success.

No Experience Necessary

One of the biggest concerns prospective clothing franchisees have is whether or not they need retail experience to succeed in the apparel franchise industry. And the answer is, no — not if you franchise with Apricot Lane! Does it help if you’ve worked in the industry before? Of course it does. As with any profession, past experience is useful. But we know that many of our franchisees come to us with little to no retail experience, which can make them feel ill-suited or ill-prepared to own an apparel franchise, no matter how much they might love fashion. That’s why we’ve developed an extensive training program that covers all the bases. You’ll spend part of that training in the privacy of your own home, and on your time-table, studying our proprietary manuals that go over many aspects of running your retail business. You’ll be quizzed on material and be introduced to some of the software you’ll be using to manage your inventory. Throughout, your 40 hours of in-home training will be reinforced by written exercises that allow you to gain confidence in your abilities and prepare you for your new role as a fashion retailer.

Away from Home

Once your in-home training has been completed, you’ll get to take part in what many franchisees really look forward to — on-site immersion into the Apricot Lane brand. You’ll spend five classroom days in the lovely Sacramento Valley, where we’ll focus on the things you’ll need to know to run the day-to-day operations of your apparel franchise, including buying and managing inventory, marketing, and customer service, among other topics. Best of all, you’ll spend an exciting day in the Los Angeles Fashion District to get a big-picture introduction into the fashion industry and meet some of our key suppliers.

When your classroom work is done, you’ll spend three to five days on location, learning how to display your merchandise beautifully and how to train your staff, and you’ll familiarize yourself with our sales systems. Your days spent with us before you open your store are meant to prepare you for what you’ve been waiting for — your grand opening — and we’ll be there beyond that! We’ll spend the next four months after you open tracking your operations closely and checking in to make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s all part of our commitment to ensure you’ve got a strong foundation of good business habits that’ll set you up for success.

Training and support are just some of the advantages of franchising with Apricot Lane. Contact us today to find out more about how we prepare our franchisees for success!

clothing business opportunity

We Are Your Clothing Franchise Opportunity!

Today, the fashion industry is a highly competitive market that affords the entrepreneurial-minded person many opportunities to do business. If you’re one of those people who is thinking about opening a clothing franchise, you should know that not all of them are created equal. At Apricot Lane, we’ve taken over 26 years of experience to create a business model that focuses on high-quality, on-trend fashions and accessories offered at affordable price points. We’re a leader in the fast-fashion industry — one defined by a quick turnaround time from runway to store, limited production, and affordability — which puts the Apricot Lane franchisee at a distinct advantage over the competition!

No Time to Wait

Today’s fashion-conscious woman is increasingly busy, and she doesn’t want to have to wait to find her favorite runway look on the racks of her favorite clothing store. At Apricot Lane, she doesn’t have to! We work with leaders in the fashion industry, allowing us access to the hottest runway looks and get them quickly into our stores. As an Apricot Lane clothing franchisee, you’ll be able to choose from hundreds of trendsetting, sophisticated, and timeless lines that appeal to all ages, allowing you to curate your inventory often and while styles are still trending — an advantage your customers will love!

Boutique Brand

One of the most important distinguishing features of the Apricot Lane brand is our boutique philosophy. Because each of our over 75 franchise locations is independently owned and operated, each one is a true reflection of its community. No two stores are alike! That means your customers won’t feel like they’re shopping a chain store; they’ll be supporting a boutique business, one that carries limited quantities and selections, as part of an ever-changing inventory that’s always fresh and always fashionable.

Special Attention

Walking into an Apricot Lane Boutique store is not like walking into a mass-market retailer — and your customers will realize that right away! They’ll love the beautiful displays of clothing and accessories, the racks of colors, textures, and patterns, and the friendly, knowledgeable sales associates who are there to help and who have what we like to call a “passion for fashion.” We pride ourselves in giving each customer the individualized attention she deserves, without making her feel pressured or rushed. She’s there to shop, to decompress, to spend time doing something she loves, and we get that! Understanding the needs and wants of our customers is what makes us unique to the clothing franchise industry, and what allows us to thrive in a highly competitive market

We Are Your Clothing Franchise Opportunity!

We’re not like every other clothing store and our customers know that. We’ve built our reputation on high quality, affordable fashion and accessories that appeal to a broad demographic, and we prepare our franchisees for success by offering unparalleled training and support. We’re leaders in the fast-fashion industry because we’ve nurtured unique and exclusive relationships with designers and manufacturers who can answer to our exacting demands for quality and economy of price — all of which we pass on to our Apricot Lane consumers. Are you ready to be a part of it all?

how to start your own retail clothing store

What Are Your Talents? Put Them to Work Running Your Own Business!

As you go about your day working for someone else, you might wonder if you have what it takes to be your own boss. You may even take that thought one step further and think about how to start your own retail clothing store. You love that idea, but you’re not sure you have the skills. Well, we think you just might! In fact, we believe almost everyone has talents that lend themselves to running a business. Better than that, we believe that when someone becomes an Apricot Lane Boutique store owner, those talents are strengthened by the extensive training and support we show every franchisee! Yes, all kinds of skills are useful as you transition into business ownership. But there are a few that are especially helpful. Let’s take a look at them here.

People Skills

When you begin your research into how to start your own retail clothing store, one thing you’re going to quickly learn is that the fashion industry is exciting and rewarding — and perfect for a person who loves people! Folks who have a knack for making others comfortable, are good listeners, and are interested in helping others, are all great candidates for owning a retail fashion business. And it’s no coincidence that so many of our Apricot Lane Boutique store owners love their jobs because it allows them to work with the public every day, helping women of all ages choose from hundreds of on-trend, sophisticated, and timeless pieces of clothing and accessories, all at prices they’ll love!

Managerial Skills

Can you make decisions comfortably and securely? Are you good at delegating tasks and acting as a positive role model? Then you have good managerial skills that will benefit you in your new role as an Apricot Lane Boutique business owner! Your day-to-day operations will see you hiring and overseeing sales associates, ordering and managing inventory, creating displays, and tending to weekly and monthly bookkeeping. It’s all part of being responsible for the smooth operation of your store, and your strong managerial skills will be essential to that.

Skilled Eye for Details

So much of running a business requires you to pay attention to details — because, after all, it’s often the little things that matter the most. This is especially true at an Apricot Lane Boutique, where the runway-inspired inventory is always being updated. As a new business owner, you’ll need to appreciate the small habits that make the difference — greeting every customer, freshening up or changing out displays, making sure your store is clean, well-lit, and inviting. If you understand the importance of details and how they can affect an outcome, you’re better prepared for success in business.

Big Picture Skills

While it’s helpful to understand that details matter, as a business owner it’s equally important to be able to see the big picture. And really, that’s what may have prompted you to think about how to start your own retail clothing store in the first place! You’re thinking about it because you’ve stepped back and looked at your life as a whole — what you’re doing, the time you spend doing it, and how you feel about it — and realized you’d like to make some important changes. Being able to appreciate that running a retail fashion boutique is a big endeavor made up of small, daily efforts prepares you for the challenges and rewards of business ownership.
