The steps to boutique ownership are easy and transparent and begin with something as simple as a phone call. Let’s delve a little deeper into how you can become part of the Apricot Lane brand family and have some fun in the fast-fashion industry.

Give Us a Call

Your rewarding career as an Apricot Lane Boutique owner begins with a friendly and informal phone call. During this chat, you’ll speak to our Franchise Development Ambassador, and as we get to know each other, we’ll review the initial Apricot Lane investment, general store operations, and support resources available, among other topics that have to do with how to start your own retail clothing store. This will also be a good time for you to ask any questions you might have (and you’re sure to have them), and we’ll ask a few of you, too. We’ll want to make sure we’re a good fit for each other before moving forward. Shortly after this call, you’ll start to receive some informative emails that will review and reinforce our initial discussion, and that talk more about training, location, store features, and more.

Fill Out a Few Forms

After this initial phone call, we’ll ask you to complete and return our Request for Consideration financial application that you’ll find at the bottom of each of our informative emails. We’ll need to confirm that you have the resources to open one of our boutiques. After that, you’ll get to speak with our founder, Ken Petersen, who’ll share his vision for our brand and his expert philosophy about franchising. You’ll have the chance to ask him questions, too, because just like all of us at Apricot Lane, Ken wants to make sure you understand how to start your own retail clothing store with us.

We’ll Visit Your Market

The next step is for us to come out to meet you, in your market, at our own expense. We do this because we believe a good fit is everything between franchisor and franchisee, and spending time with you, on your own turf, is important. Our real estate expert, president of retail, or perhaps even Ken himself, will meet with you to research location options and schedule appointments with leasing agents. We do everything we can to set you up for success, and your boutique’s location is a very important consideration, as we help you make the most of your market and demographics

Once we’ve learned everything about you and your market, we’ll meet internally with our team to review this information — and if we believe the fit is right, we’ll award you your franchise. How Our Boutique Training Helps You Run Your Business!

Starting a career as an Apricot Lane franchise owner is an exciting time, one that all our franchisees have worked hard for. Many of them come to our brand family with a lot of past experience in the fashion or retail industries, and apply that knowledge to the operation of their new stores. Other beginning franchisees are not familiar with our industry at all. But no matter what their backgrounds, all our franchisees enjoy thorough boutique training before they open their doors that’s designed to prepare them for business. Let’s take a closer look at what some of that training entails.

You’ll Start at Home

Your journey toward getting ready to operate your beautiful and unique clothing boutique franchise with us begins at home. That’s where you’ll take part in 40 hours of in-home boutique training, to be conducted at your own pace and on your own schedule. You’ll study our proprietary training manuals that are electronically stored on a password-protected intranet,  take tests on their content, and learn about some of the software we use during this training. You’ll also learn more about the inventory management technology we use to keep track of the clothing and accessories you’ll be purchasing for your new boutique. Your 40 hours of in-home training will be done before you know it, at which point, it’s time for phase two of your training.

You’ll Move to the Classroom

After those first 40 hours are completed, you’ll spend five days of classroom time at our beautiful Sacramento Valley corporate location, where we’ll go over everything you need to know about buying merchandise, managing your store and its inventory, delivering first-rate customer service, and marketing your boutique, among other important topics. You’ll also be able to spend one of those days visiting the Los Angeles fashion district, where you’ll meet with our on-site buyer and some key suppliers, who will give you a big-picture overview of our exciting fast-fashion industry.

You’ll Go on Location

Here’s where you’ll spend three to five days at your new Apricot Lane boutique, learning the art of visual merchandising from our expert teams who specialize in store openings. You’ll also learn more about our sales systems, and we’ll help you train your staff on how to deliver top-notch customer service, as well as how to speak knowledgeably about our products. Here, too, is where we make sure every last detail of your boutique opening is addressed, assuring a smooth and successful store opening.
